Car Care FAQ
Placement & Setup
Where should I hang a pendant diffuser?
Hang your Decanter Pendant, Square Pendant, or Cylinder Pendant from the rearview mirror or a rear headrest hook so that it sits clear of the windshield. Make sure the pendant does not swing into your field of vision or interfere with any controls while driving. A snug loop keeps it from moving at speed.
How do I attach a vent clip?
Slide the Vent Clip onto a horizontal or vertical vent slat and press until the clip clicks into place. Position it on a side vent rather than a center vent so airflow is directed away from the driver's face and sightline. Avoid vents that are directly in front of the steering wheel or instrument cluster.
Where do aroma pads go?
Aroma Pads can be placed in a cupholder, tucked into a seat-back pocket, or laid flat in the trunk area. Keep them away from direct sunlight and off leather, fabric upholstery, or plastic trim to avoid potential staining or surface contact.
What is the Sassy Car Kit and how do I use it?
The Sassy Car Kit includes a selection of our car fragrance products. Follow the placement guidance for each item type above.
Longevity & Fragrance Life
How long will the scent last?
Fragrance life varies by product, vehicle size, temperature, and ventilation. As a general guide, pendant and vent-clip reeds typically provide noticeable scent for several weeks, while aroma pads may last a shorter period if used in a well-ventilated space. High heat (e.g., a parked car in summer) can accelerate oil evaporation and shorten longevity. Keeping windows slightly cracked when parked in the sun can help extend life.
How do I know when to replace my diffuser?
When the scent becomes very faint or disappears entirely, it is time to replace the oil or the unit. Do not add extra oil to a product not designed for refilling, as overfilling may cause leaks.
Spills & Leaks
What should I do if diffuser oil spills in my car?
Act quickly. Blot — do not rub — any excess oil with an absorbent cloth. Fragrance oil can affect certain plastics, vinyl, and leather surfaces. We have received reports from buyers that spilled oil caused changes to car plastic trim. If oil contacts a surface, wipe it away immediately and test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first. If in doubt, consult a professional detailer. We recommend keeping all oil-containing products upright and secure while driving.
Can I lay a pendant or vent clip on its side?
No. Always keep oil-filled products upright or in their intended hanging/clipped position. Laying them on their side may cause leaks.
Driver Safety & Sightlines
Is it safe to hang something from my rearview mirror?
Placement of items near the rearview mirror is subject to local laws and regulations that vary by region — please check the rules in your area before hanging any object in your vehicle. Regardless of local rules, always ensure that any hanging item does not obstruct your forward view, swing into your line of sight while driving, or interfere with any safety controls. We recommend keeping pendants short and secure.
What is a safe distance from controls?
Keep all products at least an arm's length from the steering wheel, gear shift, and any dashboard controls so they cannot be knocked into or distract you while driving. Vent clips should never be placed on a vent that requires reaching across the driver's field of view to access.
Materials & Surface Care
Will fragrance oil damage leather or plastic?
Fragrance oils may affect leather, vinyl, and certain plastics. We cannot confirm compatibility with every vehicle interior material without supplier documentation for your specific product. Avoid letting oil drip onto or pool on any interior surface. If contact occurs, wipe immediately with a clean dry cloth. Test any cleaner on a hidden area first.
Can I use aroma pads on fabric seats?
We recommend placing aroma pads in a holder or container rather than directly on fabric or leather to reduce the risk of staining or oil transfer.
Pets & Sensitive Occupants
Is it safe to use car diffusers around pets?
Some fragrance ingredients and essential oils can be harmful to pets, particularly cats, dogs, and birds. We are unable to confirm that our products are safe for animals without verified ingredient and toxicology documentation from our suppliers. If you regularly travel with pets, consult your veterinarian before using any fragrance product in a shared vehicle space. Ensure the car is well-ventilated and watch for signs of discomfort in your pet.
What about passengers with sensitivities, allergies, or respiratory conditions?
Fragrance products may trigger reactions in people with asthma, allergies, migraines, or chemical sensitivities. If any passenger is sensitive to scents, we recommend removing the diffuser before travel and airing out the vehicle. Always ensure adequate ventilation by cracking a window when using any fragrance product.
Are the products safe for children?
Keep all fragrance products and oil-containing components out of reach of children. Do not allow children to handle reeds, pads, or open oil containers. If a child contacts concentrated fragrance oil, follow standard first-aid guidance and seek medical advice if needed.
